Join the Whitney for a performance by Cassie Watson Francillon & Sasha Masakowski at Free Friday Nights, co-presented by Brooklyn-based performance venue and community space Public Records.

Avant-garde harpist Cassie Watson Francillon's music is steeped in liberation, psychedelia and Black American sonic components that defy genre boundaries. With roots in Brooklyn and New Orleans, she crafts a modern-day revival through enmeshed soundscapes on harp. For this performance, she is joined by artist and producer Sasha Masakowski, playing selects from their collab album Suite. Sparks of creation, minimal elements, electro-harp and dream-state synth bass reflect the full command of the pair.

Sasha Masakowski splits her time between Brooklyn and her hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. Her approach to music is playful, charismatic, and spontaneous, drawing influences from jazz, electronic music, and rock. She has performed with her band at major clubs and festivals across the United States and abroad, such as the legendary Blue Note (NYC), Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, Cotton Club Tokyo, and Jazz Standard (NYC), and has earned a reputation internationally as a daring, fearless improviser and a charming interpreter.
