Insider Series Members in the Curate Your Own Program

This presentation is a chance to hear from Danielle Linzer, the Whitney’s Director of Access and Community Programs, who works within the Museum’s Education Department spearheading efforts to provide opportunities for visitors of all abilities to experience the richness and complexity of American art in an inclusive and welcoming environment. In her presentation, Danielle will introduce some of the guiding principles of inclusive and accessible design. She will also share case studies of two initiatives—programs that engage visitors who are blind or have low vision, such as touch tours, and resources and events that engage visitors who are hard of hearing or deaf, including American Sign Language tours and vlogs featuring expert Deaf educators. These programs exemplify the Whitney's commitment to inclusive learning and illustrate how aesthetic experiences present unique opportunities to integrate perception and knowledge in profound and lasting ways.
