As one of Edward Hopper’s few lifelong friends, artist and author Brian O’Doherty made a film that captured the overwhelming silence, not only of the spaces and characters in Hopper’s paintings, but also of the artist himself.  For this evening program, O’Doherty will discuss Hopper’s Silence and the film’s origin: a rare TV interview he secured with the mysterious artist. O’Doherty will explore Hopper’s enigmatic scenes and how the artist “was mysterious even to himself.”

$8 general admission; $6 senior citizens and students.

This program is free for members but advance registration is required by emailing memberinfo@whitney.org with your name and membership number.
