Join us to celebrate Edward Hopper’s birthday with a round-trip bike ride from the Museum in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District to Hopper’s birthplace of Nyack, New York. This approximately 60-mile round-trip bike ride will take place July 22, 2023, on what would have been Edward Hopper’s 141st birthday.

Cyclists will start their journey at registration early Saturday morning from 7–8:30 am outside the Whitney Museum (99 Gansevoort Street, Manhattan) with light refreshments before heading north to the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center (82 North Broadway, Nyack). The Hopper House will offer snacks, Hopper birthday activities, and tours of the artist’s home, including a look at his 1897 bicycle. At the end of the visit riders will head back to the Whitney Museum which is located near the neighborhood where Hopper lived and worked for much of his life.

Each participant will receive an exclusive Whitney Hopper Ride water bottle and two tickets to return to visit both the Edward Hopper House Museum and the Whitney Museum, which always has works by Hopper on display as part of its permanent collection exhibition.

Experienced cyclists are encouraged to sign up for the ride, a partnership with OutCycling, the Meatpacking Business Improvement District, and the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center. Space is limited.

Should you prefer a shorter ride, consider riding to train or subway stations along the route to return via public transit.
