Floor 1, Gallery

Join Grace Rosario Perkins for a gallery talk about her exhibition Circles, Spokes, Zigzags, Rivers. The artist is joined in conversation by Laura J. Allen, Curator of Native American Art at Montclair Art Museum. Their discussion will address aspects of emotion and narrative, privacy and visibility, preservation and activation, and more in relation to Perkins’s painting, sculptural, and collaborative works.

Laura J. Allen is an interdisciplinary curator, educator, and scholar. Her museum practice focuses on historical, modern, and contemporary Native art and critical and collaborative museology through a lens of restorative justice. Allen is based in Lūnaapeewáhkiing/Lenapehoking, living in Brooklyn and serving as the Curator of Native American Art and Repatriation Coordinator at Montclair Art Museum in Montclair, New Jersey as well as an independent curator. She is also a faculty member at Montclair State University.
