Contemporaries Patron members

Contemporaries Patron members are invited to an exclusive walk-through of Byron Kim’s exhibition Mud Root Ochre Leaf Star, led by the artist. The exhibition features new stain paintings inspired by a Carl Phillips poem in which the poet observes a bruise on the skin of his sleeping lover. Referencing the whole by representing a single part is a recurrent theme in Kim's oeuvre—his ongoing painting project Synecdoche began in the 1990s and was included in the 1993 Whitney Biennial. The work is currently on view in the Whitney's permanent collection exhibition Human Interest.  A reception will immediately follow the tour.

Space is limited and open to Contemporaries Patron members. Become a member, or upgrade your membership by calling (212) 570-3641.
