Floor One, The Whitney Shop

Come celebrate the release of contemporary artist David Salle's new book How to See: Looking, Talking, and Thinking About Art in the Whitney Shop.

Writing with wit and verve, Salle illuminates the work of many of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. Engaging with a wide range of Salle’s friends and contemporaries—including: Jeff Koons, John Baldessari, Roy Lichtenstein, Alex Katz—How to See explores the multi-layered personalities of the artists themselves and the distinctive character of their oeuvres. How to See is a first—an artist writing not about their own work, but about other artists in the present tense, in essays that are both highly readable and instructive.

The event is free. Registration is required.
