Contemporaries and Contemporaries Patrons

Contemporaries are invited to an exclusive tour of the year-end Curatorial Exhibition for the Independent Study Program (ISP). The ISP consists of three interrelated parts: Studio Program, Curatorial Program, and Critical Studies Program. The program encourages the theoretical and critical study of the practices, institutions, and discourses that constitute the field of culture. ISP alumni include Glenn Ligon, Jenny Holzer, Kathryn Bigelow, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Julian Schnabel, Andrea Fraser, and Roberta Smith.

This year's ISP curators are Magdalyn Asimaki, Jared Quinton, and Alexandra Symons Sutcliffe who will present an evening tour of their exhibition, That I am reading backwards and into for a purpose, to go on:, which features works by Julia Phillips, Kevin Beasley, and Martine Syms, among others. The exhibition presents the body as an access point to wider social and political conditions.

Contemporaries and Contemporaries Patron members are invited to this event: The invitation is for two individuals per membership household. To RSVP, email contemporaries@whitney.org with your name and membership ID.
