Contemporaries Patrons

Whitney Contemporaries Patrons are invited to attend a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Whitney’s new Bucksbaum, Learsy, Scanlan Conservation Center. The Whitney’s Conservation Department preserves our collection and evaluates and treats new acquisitions. Recently, we have undertaken several long-term conservation projects, including Alexander Calder’s Circus, Eva Hesse’s Untitled (Rope Piece), and all three of the Whitney’s George Segal works, Girl in a Doorway, The Bus Station, and Walk, Don’t Walk.  Afterward, we'll have cocktails (weather permitting) on the west-facing conservation terrace.

Our tour will be led by Margo Delidow, a Project Conservator at the Whitney Museum, who focuses on modern and contemporary sculpture. After completing a Masters of Arts and Certificate of Advanced Study in Conservation from The Art Conservation Program at the State University College in Buffalo, Margo worked at the Sculpture Conservation Department at the Museum of Modern Art as a research fellow. From 2006–2010 Margo was involved in all aspects of MoMA’s collection care and exhibition program. In 2010 Margo joined the Conservation Center of the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU where she continues to serve as an Adjunct Professor training new conservators in the ethics and skills needed for modern and contemporary art. Margo is also currently a Partner at Whryta Contemporary Art Conservation and a Professional Associate Member of AIC.

Invitations will be sent to active Contemporaries Patrons members. Space is limited. This event will be open to Contemporaries Patrons plus one guest. To RSVP, email contemporaries@whitney.org.
