Brooke Fox: Hourglassing with Verbal Description and Touch Tours

Floor Five, Neil Bluhm Family Galleries and Floor Three, Susan and John Hess Family Theater

To complement the 2017 Whitney Biennial, award-winning vocalist Brooke Fox will provide a musical performance in the Susan and John Hess Family Theater. Fox will debut new songs from her forthcoming EP Hourglassing, a collection of songs about the discovery of self, relationship politics, identity fatigue, and transformation. Before the performance participants will explore the Whitney Biennial 2017 exhibition through truncated Verbal Description and Touch Tours led by expert educators. A reception will follow the program.

Brooke Fox is a vocalist, performance artist and disability advocate who was born with Albinism, a genetic condition causing a lack of pigment, extreme nearsightedness and sensitivity to light.  She has released two acclaimed albums of acoustic-driven songs and performed live in twenty-three states and eight countries. Fox became an advocate for artists with disabilities by sharing her story and songs with audiences at New York's City Hall, the United Nations, and the United States Department of the Treasury. In 2015 Fox received an Envision Everyday Hero Award for her innovative work as Executive Director of Visionary Media, a non-profit providing professional resources for blind or visually impaired musicians.
