The semi-annual Breakfast with the Director offers a rare opportunity to join Adam D. Weinberg, the Whitney’s Alice Pratt Brown Director, for an engaging conversation with a contemporary artist. This edition of the event will feature a discussion with 2014 Biennial artist Keith Mayerson. Keith Mayerson's contribution to the 2014 Biennial, My American Dream, consists of dozens of paintings made over a span of approximately twenty years displayed in a salon-style installation. Drawing from cultural history, the civil rights struggle, and Mayerson's own life, the piece creates a personal, idiosyncratic, and non-linear narrative that challenges a more traditional understanding of the "American Dream."

Join us for a light breakfast at 8:30 am, followed by the conversation at 9.
