Since 2019, Whitney staff have been planning the return of the Museum’s landmark exhibition: Whitney Biennial 2022. Titled Quiet as It’s Kept, the 2022 Biennial features an intergenerational and interdisciplinary group of sixty-three artists and collectives whose dynamic works reflect the challenges, complexities, and possibilities of the American experience today. Contributions take different forms over the course of the presentation: artworks—even walls—change, and performance animates the galleries and objects. Developed over the course of two and a half challenging and unpredictable years, this eightieth edition of the monumental exhibition offers a look at the resiliency of art amid uncertainty.

Learn firsthand about how Whitney staff from various departments collaborated amid unprecedented times to realize Whitney Biennial 2022: Quiet as It’s Kept. Join us for this behind-the-scenes talk with Curatorial Project Assistant Gabriel Almeida, Assistant Registrar of Exhibitions Brenna Cothran, Exhibition Designer Jared Huggins, and Curatorial Assistant Mia Matthias.
