Explore the conservation, preservation, and production of contemporary art employing innovative materials with members of the Whitney staff behind Josh Kline: Project for a New American Century.

Known for immersive, technologically-complex installations blending video, sculpture, photography, and design, Josh Kline addresses a range of pressing societal concerns in the first midcareer survey of his work in the United States. From early installations examining the effects of automation on the labor force to the debut of new series addressing the climate crisis, Project for a New American Century challenges us to think critically about the systems and technologies that govern our lives and to imagine new possibilities for change.

For this virtual program, join Associate Conservator Margo Delidow and Curatorial Project Assistant McClain Groff to go behind the scenes of their work on the exhibition’s preparation, learn how they care for modern materials in the Whitney’s collection, and discover the unexpected methods they use to install immersive installations at the Museum.
