The Whitney Museum is coming to Brooklyn for a special artmaking project at the New York Transit Museum. Participants of all ages are invited to create colorful signs and sticker tile images in a project inspired by artist Jane Dickson’s stunning pieces: Save Time (2020) and Fascination Sign 1 (2020), included in the 2022 Whitney Biennial, and Revelers (2008), currently on view at the Times Square-42nd Street subway station as part of the MTA Arts & Design program.

This event is part of the Whitney Museum’s efforts to bring contemporary American art and artists outside its galleries and directly to New Yorkers. So far, hundreds of New Yorkers have participated in Whitney Museum artmaking activities at the Union Square subway station and the New York Botanical Garden. These events featured artists included in the MTA Arts & Design program and exhibited in the Whitney Biennial, showcasing what’s new and exciting in contemporary American art and a part of the NYC cultural landscape since 1932. The 2024 Biennial is currently on view at the Whitney through August 11.
