Contemporaries Patrons

Join for an exclusive walk-through by artist and 2015 MacArthur Fellow LaToya Ruby Frazier (b. 1982) of her largest exhibition in New York to date at Gavin Brown’s enterprise in Harlem. The exhibition is comprised of three recent bodies of work: Flint is Family, The Notion of Family, and A Pilgrimage to Noah Purifoy’s Desert Art Museum. Frazier's practice spans photography, video and performance and focuses on the artist's deeply rooted and long held concerns exploring the legacies of racism, inequality, economic decline, access to healthcare and environmental justice. The artist is a 2011 graduate of the Whitney's Independent Study Program; her work is represented in the permanent collection of the Whitney.

Contemporaries Patron members are invited to this event: The invitation is for two individuals per membership household. To RSVP, email contemporaries@whitney.org with your name and membership ID.
