Vogue Basics is perfect for teens looking to begin their vogue journey and get down to the basics. The instructor will break down the elements of vogue to allow participants to perfect their technique at a slow and easy-to-follow pace. As a significant element of Ballroom culture, voguing is as much about competition and besting a rival as it is about self-expression, identity formation, and building chosen families.

Showcase your voguing skills next week at the All About Ailey Ball, a celebration of the life and legacy of Alvin Ailey. Join us on Friday, October 25, from 4:30pm to 8:30pm in the Floor 3 Theater.

Instructor
Luz Theodyssey is a Dominican American artist from the Bronx. She began her formal training at the age of twelve in ballet, modern, jazz, and tap at the Bronx Dance Academy, with continued training at the Dance Theatre of Harlem from 2009–2012 before studying at SUNY Purchase College. In 2018, she debuted at her first ball and has continued to dance and compete in a variety of categories ever since. Theodyssey has starred in campaigns for Be True Nike, Adidas, and Jeremy Scott, and appeared on seasons 1 and 2 of Ryan Murphy’s Pose. You can catch her most recent television work on the 2022 season of Legendary, the HBO Max hit voguing show, where she placed as the semi-finalist house in the final two competing teams.
