Learning Series Lecture: Artists and the American City, 1920–1970

This two-part lecture program taught by teaching fellow Elizabeth Buhe provides context and background to enrich independent exploration of the Whitney’s spring and summer exhibitions Human Interest: Portraits from the Whitney’s Collection, Stuart Davis: In Full Swing, and Danny Lyon: Message to the Future. Buhe will explore the ways artists and their communities have interacted with the urban environment during the early and mid-twentieth century.
Active Learning Series members are invited to register for one of three options:
Option 1: Saturdays, April 30 and May 7, 6–7 pm
Option 2: Sundays, May 8 and 15, 11:30 am–12:30 pm
Option 3: Wednesday, July 6 and 13, 5:30–6:30 pm *wait list only
Option 4: Sundays, September 11 and 25, 11:30 am–12:30 pm
