Your Summer In the City
Jun 28, 2010

Here at Youth Insights, we’re gearing up for our YI Summer Intensive, where teens will be learning about careers in the arts and visiting different cultural hotspots all around New York City, including: the High Line, the Apollo Theater, and the Keith Haring Foundation.

Summer in New York City is always a particularly exciting time for the arts with free or inexpensive offerings everywhere you look, whether it's a concert in Central Park or an escape to Governor’s Island. Things are just as busy here at the Whitney with our upcoming exhibitions.

High 5 Tickets to the Arts, who recently visited us for a Biennial teen tour, has put together a “Summer in the City” guide for NYC teens filled with exciting, fun and FREE things to do all around the five boroughs and beyond. High 5 Tickets to the Arts is a non-profit organization that works hard to offer teens access to the arts through free and affordable programs.

Some of this summer’s highlights include:

June 9-August 1
The Public Theater presents Shakespeare in the Park: Merchant of Venice and A Winter’s Tale, Delacorte Theater in Central Park

July 12
Target High Line Street Festival, High Line Park between Gansevoort and West 20th Streets

August 14
Complexions Contemporary Ballet, East River Park

High 5 also continually provides $5 tickets for high schools students to shows and events all around the city. Visit their website and sign up for the High 5 newsletter for more information.

Here’s to a safe and happy summer!
