On July 17, YI went to the Museum of Modern Art to see a screening in their Film Department.  We met Associate Curator Anne Morra, who told us about the history of the department and its practices. We saw films from 1893 to 2001 as well as the oldest remaining camera footage in existence, and the first ever film to feature a fleshed-out narrative. My favorite was the first-ever Popeye cartoon,  Popeye the Sailor Meets Sinbad the Sailor. The presentation was meant to give an idea of the history and development of film as a medium. I found it to be quite enlightening and informative, and it has inspired me to check out works similar to the ones we were shown.
