At The Whitney
Open Access Days
The Whitney's Open Access Days provide groups from participating senior centers access to the Museum on a day when the Whitney is closed to the public. Participants can take part in a guided tour, for which Assisted Listening Devices are offered to those seniors in need. Seating is provided in the galleries for comfort and convenience, and complimentary refreshments are provided after the tour. Open Access Days sometimes also offer seniors the rare opportunity to meet and chat with an artist whose work is currently on view. Open Access Days are scheduled in the fall and spring.
Senior Programs at The Whitney
Krys Doerfler, a Museum docent, discusses Senior Programs at the Whitney Museum. Program attendees walk through the galleries, sit and look at works on view, and attend a tour of the exhibition. After the tour, the seniors gather in the café on the lower level of the Museum to discuss what they’ve seen.
