New Biennial Tuesdays!
During the 2008 Biennial, we will be offering a limited number of private tours when the Museum is closed. On select Tuesday afternoons, your group is invited to enjoy the Biennial in an intimate, exclusive setting, free from crowds. All Biennial Tuesday tours will be conducted by Whitney Teaching Fellows, Ph.d candidates in art history. These young scholars have studied at the leading programs in the country and participate in a comprehensive training process that prepares them to engage a wide range of audiences in thoughtful, informative gallery discussions. Groups are charged a rate of $50 per adult (groups of fewer than 10 visitors will be charged for the cost of 10 adults). Biennial Tuesdays will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis, so make your reservation today!
To make a reservation, please email: Nicole_Stiffle@Whitney.org. In the subject line of your email, please write "Biennial Tuesdays." In the body of your email, please include your group's name and contact information, the number of people in your party and your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice dates and times. School and Educator Programs
School and educator programs use works of art in the Whitney's permanent collection and temporary exhibitions as a foundation for learning. Programs at the Museum and in the classrooms offer opportunities for teachers and students to develop an informed, critical understanding of American art and culture, and its relationship to their own lives. Inquiry-based exhibition tours, multi-session outreach programs, professional development workshops, and interdisciplinary resource materials are designed to facilitate in-depth exploration of the works of art on view, create a forum for ideas, dialogue, and exchange, and enhance visual literacy and critical thinking skills. All programs address the New York State Learning Standards as well as the NYC DOE Blueprint for teaching and learning in the visual arts.
