The Whitney is open late—just for members! Celebrate with fellow supporters and enjoy everything the Museum has to offer. In addition to gallery access, the evening includes Whitney teaching fellow-led exhibition talks, members-only dining and shopping, and more.
All members are invited to this event. The invitation is for two individuals per membership household. Members at the Dual level and above are welcome to arrive at 7 pm for priority admission. One-time-use member guest passes may be used. Not open to corporate and reciprocal members.

Samba Dancing with Casa Brazilia
Floor One
7:30, 8:30, and 9:30 pm
Join drummers and dancers from Casa Brazilia for interactive performances. Experience the rhythm of samba, an important inspiration for Hélio Oiticica. His Parangolés, fabric sculptures to be worn while dancing, express his commitment to art that is collaborative and interactive. Performances will last approximately 25 minutes.

Drop in Artmaking Workshop

Stop by for a collage-making activity inspired by Elizabeth Catlett’s print series, I am the Negro woman, 1946–47 (re-titled The Black Woman, 1989). Catlett’s series of prints honors the work of black women including prominent figures such as Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, and Phyllis Wheatley. Participants are invited to create high contrast collage portraits inspired by Catlett’s graphic use of line and shading. Collage for a few minutes—or longer! First come, first served.
Screening and Discussion: Hélio Oiticica and 1970s New York
Hess Theater, Floor Three

Filmmaker César Oiticica Filho’s 2012 documentary about his uncle Hélio Oiticica brings together archival visual materials and original audio recordings of Oiticica expounding upon his art, life, and times in his own words. This program will feature an excerpt from the film, focusing on the artist’s years living and working in New York. After the screening, the filmmaker will be in conversation with exhibition co-curators Donna De Salvo and Elisabeth Sussman.

Join this brief tour of works from the Whitney’s collection in the In a Euphoric Dream section of Where We Are. Meet in the far eastern gallery to the left of the stairs and elevators.

Still hungry? Untitled, located on the ground floor, will be serving dinner all night—make a reservation here. Social Series drink tickets may not be used in Studio Cafe or Untitled.
Cash bars serving wine and beer are located on the ground floor and in the third-floor Theater Gallery. Last call for cash bars is 9:45 pm. Social Series drink tickets may be used at the cash bars.
