JIM O'ROURKE
Born 1969, Chicago, Illinois; lives in New York, New York Jim O'Rourke has recently begun to focus on filmmaking after an intense, and intensely varied, career in music. Trained as a composer and musician, he has recorded more than ten solo albums and participated— as a musician and/or producer— on dozens of additional projects, collaborating with, among others, Tony Conrad, John Fahey, Beth Orton, and the bands Wilco and Sonic Youth. O'Rourke's inventive guitar improvisation extends from quiet, bare-bones acoustics to deafening atonal drones, and his work testifies to an eclectic array of influences, from classical sources to electronic music.
