The subject, identifiable by\nhis long-lashed right eye, is Alex, the violent\nsociopath in Stanley Kubrick’s film\n(adapted from Anthony Burgess’s novella)\n\u003cem\u003eA Clockwork Orange\u003c/em\u003e. Tightly framed\nagainst a pitch-black, schematically\nrendered architectural interior, the flattened,\ncartoonish figure holds a glass of milk and\nwhat appears to be a pool cue. The Yankees\nlogo on his floppy hat situates the work\nin a New York bar—a realm often explored by\nEisenman in her recent work.
