Yet Horn is\nalso concerned with how objects respond\nto each other and to their sites of display,\nand is significantly more invested in the\naffective qualities of her subjects than were\nmany of her predecessors in the late 1960s.\n\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe sixty-four individual photographs\nthat comprise\u003cem\u003e\u0026nbsp;Ellipsis (II)\u003c/em\u003e record the mazelike\nspaces inside the changing rooms of\nan indoor public pool in Reykjavík, Iceland,\na country Horn has visited regularly since\n1975. The large-scale grid of black-and-white\nphotographs juxtaposes cropped views\nof the space’s tiled walls, which curve\naround corners to form continuous surfaces;\ndeep vistas of its receding corridors,\non occasion occupied by a towel-wrapped\nswimmer; and close-ups of its numbered\ndoorways. Oversized peepholes in the doors\nand reflections in mirrors of the edgeless\ntiles add to the work’s sense of voyeurism.\nNo single print could describe the locker\nroom’s labyrinthine design. Rather, as\nHorn explained, “In \u003cem\u003eEllipsis\u003c/em\u003e you don’t really\nsee what you’re looking at until you’ve seen\nit all, until you’ve looked at all of the sixty-\nfour photographs.
