Artist Karthik Pandian uses film and sculpture to explore the relationships between ancient and modern cultures, focusing on the ways contemporary societies treat the monuments of the past. Unearth, his current exhibition on view at the Whitney, investigates the ancient American city of Cahokia, the remains of which are located right outside and underneath present day East St. Louis, IL. Join the artist for a conversation and hands-on art making workshop that explores the architecture of New York City and the new monuments you might propose to build here.
Art-making materials will be provided, and you are welcome to take home your project. This program is free of charge and open to all high school students, but registration is required as space is limited. When you register, you will receive a confirmation email with additional details about this event.
This event will be held in the Whitney Annex at 33 East 74th Street, between Madison and Park Avenues.
