Floor Three, Susan and John Hess Family Theater
Artist Danny Lyon discusses his provocative and deeply empathetic films with artist and filmmaker Andrew Lampert and curator Julian Cox. Known for his important contributions to American street photography and his concern with social and political issues, Lyon has made over a dozen films since the 1960s that remain little known.
This event, held in conjunction with Danny Lyon: Message to the Future, offers a rare glimpse into Lyon’s rich and longstanding film practice. The program includes a screening of Born to Film on 16 mm (1982, 33 mins) and the first public viewing of Lyon’s recent film, Julian and John (2015, 9 mins), about the civil rights leaders Julian Bond and John Lewis.
Tickets are required ($10 adults; $8 members, students and seniors).
The Susan and John Hess Family Theater is equipped with an induction loop and infrared assistive listening system. Accessible seating is available.
