Floor One, The Whitney Shop
In Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema and Art, 1905–2016, visitors are invited to journey beyond traditional two-and-three-dimensional art experiences into one that is truly transporting. By presenting compelling multidimensional works of art, Dreamlands fills the Museum’s fifth-floor galleries with an all-surrounding, phantasmagoric experience.
Inspired by this exhibition, the Whitney Shop has invited Radiant Human, the portrait practice of Portland-based visual artist Christina Lonsdale, to create photographs of shop patrons and their auras. This ten-day residency in the shop during Museum hours, December 7–17, offers patrons the opportunity to see their own human atmosphere and experience for themselves the art of aura photography, a process that visually captures the electromagnetic energy given off by a person or an object.
Reservations are required; $35 for one portrait including a personal interpretation by the artist. Please note: A limited number of walk-in appointments will be available each day; arrive early to the Whitney Shop for more information.
The Museum building is accessible and has elevator access to all floors. Service animals are welcome. Learn more about access services and amenities.
