Major Gifts Officer
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) is part of a team responsible for initiating, developing, and stewarding relationships with individual donors and prospects to achieve annual operating goals. In 2015, the Museum completed a $760 million campaign in support of the new building and endowment and looks to build on this extraordinary success going forward.
Reporting to the Director of Individual and Planned Giving, the MGO will strategically organize and cultivate a growing portfolio of major gift donors and prospects and will directly solicit donations and help to close gifts as appropriate. MGO will manage all aspects of donor relations, including planning, overseeing, and attending patron program events. In addition, MGO will position the Director, Deputy Director for Development, senior staff, Board members and volunteers to deepen relationships to the Museum.
Requirements include: B.A. (advanced degree preferred); 4+ years of experience and proven success in major gifts fundraising; experience in an art museum or other cultural institutions and planning donor travel desirable; demonstrated ability to work effectively and successfully in identifying, cultivating and soliciting major individuals for support; team player who works collaboratively across the department and institution; excellent writing and interpersonal skills; excellent computer skills and experience with Raiser’s Edge database or similar fundraising software important.
