Director of Corporate Partnerships

Reporting to the Deputy Director for Advancement, the Director of Corporate Partnerships is responsible for the Whitney’s dynamic corporate fundraising program to support exhibitions, programming, events, special projects and general operations in line with the Museum’s priorities and annual fiscal goals. Through ongoing prospecting for new partners and existing alliances, the Director creates strategic partnerships with the goal of developing mutually beneficial programs and appropriate brand alignment with corporations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Create and execute fundraising strategies to identify best prospect companies for particular Museum program or asset
  • Oversee sponsorship benefits creation and implementation through ongoing negotiations and stakeholder meetings, both internally and externally
  • Work collaboratively with Trustees, Museum Director, and senior staff, and represent the corporate department team in all relevant stakeholder meetings to create opportunities and share information
  • Negotiate terms of agreement for sponsorships and oversee preparation of corporate proposals, written solicitation materials, and project budgets
  • Supervise stewardship and maintain key relationships with current and prospective corporate donors
  • Maintain relationships with Museum leadership, across departments including the Trustees (as needed)
  • Develop revenue projections and financial analyses, and participate in short and long range planning to ensure financial stability of the corporate program as it aligns to the Museum’s strategic plan, needs, and priorities

General Requirements

  • B.A.; Master degree in Business and/or Arts Management preferred
  • Minimum 6-8 years professional experience in corporate fundraising, sales/marketing and/or development, preferably in a museum, non-profit or arts-related organization, or corporate environment. Proven track record of success in securing 6-7 figure gifts
  • Highly organized and strong project management skills, in addition to a great attention to detail. High energy and strategic thinking with the ability to make sound judgements and decisions. Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Diplomacy within working relationships with excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Supervisory experience to oversee a team of direct reports
  • Advanced computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or familiarity with database programs
