Who are the Whitney Contemporaries?
The Whitney Contemporaries are the Museum's link to the future - young leaders and patrons who will carry on the Whitney's critical mission of supporting American art. The Contemporaries keep the youthful energy of the Whitney flourishing, bolster the Museum's commitment to risk and innovation, and involve young leaders in the fulfillment of the Whitney's mission.
In appreciation of their essential support, the Contemporaries enjoy special access to the Whitney’s unparalleled resources and the New York art scene through curator-led tours, gallery walks and visits to private collections, artist studios and contemporary art fairs
What is the ISP?
The Whitney Museum of American Art’s Independent Study Program (ISP) was founded thirty-nine years ago as an innovative, alternative approach to the education of young curators, art historians, and critics. The ISP is widely known and highly respected in both the art and academic communities in the U.S. and throughout the world. The ISP provides a unique setting for the critical study of the diverse practices, discourses, and institutions that constitute the fields of artistic and cultural production.
This benefit evening provides friends of the ISP an opportunity to support the program’s continuing contribution to the fields of art, architecture, criticism, and curatorial practice.
