She paints intimate landscapes featuring serene, unpeopled houses. Deceptively effortless in their appearance, Gallace&rsquo;s paintings take shape through careful observation and decisive omission. In this series of works, boxlike cottages are surrounded by bright hues of thriving summer greenery and a luminous pale sky. Visible brushstrokes, applied in wet-on-wet layers of oil paint, describe areas of color that appear infused with light.
