JEFFKOONS: It was really a body of work telling people that whatever it is in life that you respond to, to embrace that, to embrace your own cultural history, to embrace your total history, and that it’s perfect, absolutely perfect.
Art is not in an object. An object can be a transponder. It’s something that can excite you, can motivate you. But there’s no art there. The art’s inside you. It’s the excitement that you feel at your own transcendence and the increasing of your own parameters. The Banality show was really trying to have a dialogue about this. To embrace the things that you enjoy. If you enjoy dislocated imagery, banal objects, fantastic. If you love pink, embrace pink. If you love blue, embrace blue, whatever it may be.
