JEFFKOONS: As we went on and Ilona and I actually started to fall in love with each other, I became more and more committed to the body of work too, and trying to have it be as liberating as possible. This openness of acceptance, of one’s own body.
The harder images are also part of the body of work. One of my favorite’s paintings is Ilona’s Asshole. I really love the painting because it’s very, very similar to Wall Relief with Bird. If you look at the two side by side, it’s the same thing. It’s pollination. It’s the continuation of life. It’s nature at work. At the same time, you just have that basic acceptance of nature. That they’re kind of very equal. But if you look at the painting Ilona’s Asshole, you know, it takes a lot of confidence just to show your asshole.
