Sound Amplification Systems

Assistive listening devices ( ALD ) are available free-of-charge at the Access Services Desk in the Museum lobby. The Museum offers FM and infrared receivers with headsets or neck loops. Please inquire about the portable ALD that best suits your needs.

In the Galleries

The Kaufman Astoria Film & Video Gallery located on the second floor is equipped with a permanent infrared assistive listening system.

For special exhibtions and the Whitney’s collection, video and audio works are installed with an infrared assistive listening system. These works are identified by the assistive listening symbol on the wall label. Please request a free infrared receiver with a headset or neck loop at the Access Services Desk in the Museum lobby.

Gallery Tours

FM assistive listening devices are available free-of-charge for group tours, free daily tours, and public programs. Please request an FM receiver with a headset or neck loop at the Access Services Desk in the Museum lobby.

Transcripts

Transcripts are available for some video or audio works. Descriptions of background or ambient sounds may also be available. Please inquire at the Access Services Desk.

Communication Access Realtime Translation ( CART )
