Variation

A change or difference in a piece of music to present it in a new but still recognizable form.

Vaudeville

Entertainment that consists of multiple and varied acts such as music, dance, skits, comedy, and acrobatics. Vaudeville was popular in the early years of the twentieth century.

Vermillion

A bright red color tinted with orange. Vermillion was originally made from a mineral called cinnebar. 

Vertical

Something that is upright, or in an up-and-down direction, like a person who is standing up.

Video

Video is what you see when you watch television. The moving pictures are taken with a video camera and recorded onto tape, CD, or DVD. Video art is video made by artists, which is often quite different from what you see on regular television.

Video artist

An artist who makes video as their main practice. Generally, video art is different from video or film that we might expect to see on television or at the movies.

Vinyl

A shiny, flexible plastic material, often used for inflatable toys, furniture, or floor coverings.

Voyeur

A person who observes others without them knowing.
