Hermes

Hermes was the fastest of the Greek gods. He wore wings on his sandals and acted as the messenger and conductor of souls to the Underworld. In ancient Greece, the head of Hermes was placed on pillars at roadsides to guide travelers.

Originally from “hipster,” the word “hippie” was first used to describe people who experimented with a different kind of lifestyle in San Francisco and New York in the early 1960s. Hippies invented Flower Power as a peaceful protest against the Vietnam War.
