Teen Workshop: Rafa Esparza

FRI, Jun 9, 2017
4–6 pm

Outside of the Museum on the corner of Gansevoort St. and West St. – across from the Hudson River

For New York City teens

Join us for a workshop on abode brick making techniques with artist Rafa Esparza. For the 2017 Biennial, Esparza transformed one of the Museum’s galleries into a rotunda made out of adobe bricks. Each brick was built by hand from a combination of clay, horse dung, hay, and water from the Los Angeles River. The artist considers the dynamics involved in the labor of making the bricks an important part of the work. For this workshop Esparza will share his knowledge on making adobe bricks as well as his personal connection to these materials and processes.

For this activity we will be working with mud, hay, water, and other messy materials. We recommend wearing clothes that can get dirty.

This event is free to attend, and no RSVP is required.
