Location: Floor Three, Laurie M. Tisch Education Center, Hearst Artspace
On April 7, join us for a special Open Studio with artist Cauleen Smith! The hand-sewn words and symbols in Smith’s banners represent issues that are important to her, such as prejudice, racism, and people’s inability to understand one another. Create your own t-shirt using words, symbols, colors, and patterns that represent something that you feel strongly about. At 5 pm, Cauleen Smith will join us to discuss her work in the 2017 Biennial and her art practice.
If you are interested in making your own protest banner, we strongly encourage you to register for Protest Banner Lending Library with Aram Han Sifuentes and Cauleen Smith, happening the same day at 6:30pm!
Free. Refreshments and art materials provided. No RSVP required – bring a friend!
