The Future Whitney: New Directions in Conservation

Tues, June 3, 2014  6:30–7:30 PM

Members are invited to enjoy this exclusive presentation by Carol Mancusi-Ungaro, Associate Director for Conservation and Research. Join us as we explore how the dynamic exchange between the work of conservators and curators is more vital than ever as the Whitney prepares to open its new building, which will offer an unprecedented amount of space to showcase the Museum’s iconic collection of modern and contemporary American art. Conservators work closely with the curatorial team to decide how to care for the individual works of art, ensuring that the works can be displayed and preserved. The new building includes a state-of-the-art conservation lab, providing greatly expanded space for the Whitney’s conservation efforts and underscoring the central role of conservation to the Museum’s mission.
