David Rosenboom: Advanced Brain-Computer Interfacing in the Arts

Sat, May 23, 2015
1–4 pm

Floor Three, Susan and John Hess Family Theater

Recently, the field of Brain-Computer Interfacing (BCI) has experienced leaps and bounds in scientific and technological progress. Some of these new accessible technologies have enabled the pursuit of artistic applications that could only be imagined before, especially in Brain-Computer Music Interfacing (BCMI) and its allied interdisciplinary art forms. With the help of neurotechnology companies, Syntrogi and InteraXon, Tim Mullen, Alex Khalil, and David Rosenboom will be on hand to demonstrate some of these developments for visitors to experience first hand.

Thanks to Syntrogi Inc. for assisting in the development of Advanced Brain-Computer Interfacing in the Arts and to Cognionics, Inc for providing EEG hardware. Thanks to InteraXon Inc. for providing Muse™ brainwave sensing headbands used in recent neuromusic work.

Propositional Music is presented by ISSUE Project Room in collaboration with the Whitney Museum of American Art; organized by Tommy McCutchon and Lawrence Kumpf with Jay Sanders, Curator of Performance at the Whitney.

This demonstration is free with Museum admission. Walk-ins are welcome.
