Talk with Graphic Novelists Dash Shaw and Jessica Abel

On October 14, 2011, Youth Insights participants and other teens gathered at the Whitney to attend an artist talk in conjunction with the exhibition Lyonel Feininger: At the Edge of the World.  Two graphic novelists, Dash Shaw and Jessica Abel, joined the teens to reflect on the ways that Feininger’s early career as an illustrator and cartoonist influenced his later oil paintings, as well as how their own teen years shaped the art they make. For more details on the work of these graphic novelists, and to read a teen’s own perspective on the event, check out the Whit blog
