My name is Allandra. I have three sisters and one brother. Art has been a part of my life from a very young age. My favorite kinds of artwork to create are abstract paintings and sculptures. I am so grateful to have stumbled upon the Youth Insights program. I believe that this program will allow me to be more open-minded and accepting of others’ opinions. I use art to express my emotions on a daily basis. Also, I find that when I am sick in bed, art is what helps to get me through the day. My favorite artists are Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, and Edgar Degas. My favorite Matisse is The Sorrows of the King (1952). My favorite works by Monet are his paintings of the Gardens at Giverny. My favorite work by Degas is Waiting (1882). My favorite museum is the Guggenheim, but the museum I have visited the most is The Museum of the City of New York. I find comfort in being surrounded by art. I love to sit in front of paintings and imagine what compelled the artists to create them.
