Jitan is a Lab High School junior who lives in Brooklyn. She favors English over math and science. She participated in the teen art lab program at the Rubin Museum and another program at the Noguchi Museum which led her to apply for Youth Insights. She has become somewhat of a YI veteran, doing YI Writers both semesters of last year as well as the 2013 Summer Intensive program. Her favorite artists include Elizabeth Peyton and Damien Hirst. Jitan finds Peyton’s drawing style aspirational. It makes her nostalgic. She likes Hirst because she finds his work grotesque, yet real. In addition to being a fan of the number five and the color blue, Jitan likes to draw, and hopes eventually to get into photography.
