Hey! My name is Stephanie. I am a sixteen-year-old girl from the Bronx who, like many other teens, finds comfort in writing and music. I am not the most creative person in the world when it comes to making art, but I sure know how to appreciate others’ work. I can literally spend hours walking through museums, astonished by all the amazing work surrounding me. An odd thing about me is that although I am Mexican and am proud of it, I find it more fascinating to learn about other people’s cultures and customs, and how they incorporate them into their work. I love being surrounded by people with creativity because in my opinion it is contagious, therefore, whenever they have their creative juices flowing, so do I.
During my spare time, I volunteer at various places. An example of one of my favorite places to volunteer is at my church as a catechist teacher. In other words, I prepare second graders to receive their first communion. Apart from volunteering at my church, I also volunteer after school and on Saturdays teaching salsa dance classes as well as helping young children with their homework and reading. As I am constantly exposed to children, I want to study to become a teacher.
