Hi, my name is Denae and I am fourteen years old. I attend the Bronx High School for Visual Arts. I normally call my school BSHVA as a little nickname because it is easier. My favorite color is green (all shades) and my favorite band is Nirvana because they are so wild, crazy, and cool. I just absolutely love their music, they are legendary, and in my heart will never be forgotten. My favorite singer is Rihanna. She is so unique, beautiful, and just all around gorgeous. I love every song of hers because of her fierceness. My favorite songs are Russian Roulette by Rihanna, Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, and All-Star by Smash Mouth. Most importantly, my favorite artists are Keith Haring and Leonardo da Vinci. My favorite type of art is abstraction, because everyone can decide what they see and what the picture means. No one is proven wrong or right. Really, every type of art is beautiful to me.
The first thing that I have to say is that I’m very wild and crazy. When I'm with my friends, I’m the insane awesome one. A lot of the people that I know take a while to learn my name, because they say it’s hard, so they just call me "Colors." To be honest with you, the way that I say that my personality is wild and crazy may not sound very good, but I’m actually really proud of myself and confident. At my middle school and a few years before that, I really couldn’t find myself. Even when I tried to, I couldn’t really express who I was. No one around me could really accept that I was different, so most of the time I was quiet. As soon as I got to my high school with all the diverse groups of people, I was able to both fit in and stand out, which is exactly what I wanted.
In the future, I want to go to three different colleges and universities over the course of eight years and graduate with my PhD. I want to further my studies with art, particularly fashion design, photography, and graphic design. When I grow older I want to be a graphic designer. Even though I really don’t believe in having a plan B, if it becomes necessary, for my fall-back occupation I would love to be a firefighter. I am actually a very planned-out person. The main blueprint of my life is to graduate high school at sixteen, start college at seventeen, (which is only a few days apart because of my August birthday), finish with school at twenty-five, and then start my career, be it as a graphic designer or as a firefighter. Then at thirty I’ll probably settle down and have my own family: my husband and four kids (Reign, Beau, Darby, and Three). I think that I said everything. Well, that was my autobiography.
