What are three things you never leave the house without? How are they weapons of defense?

This spring, YI Aritsts worked with artist-in-residence Wardell Milan, whose work often involves the creation of highly detailed and dramatic dioramas that he then photographs. Wardell’s dioramas include recurring images and reflect both personal and cultural histories. Inviting everyone to do some personal reflection, he asked YI Artists to think about the questions above, and choose three objects that make them feel strong, confident, and comfortable when facing the world. Considering these personal belongings and their daily importance, YI Artists depicted the objects through painting, drawing, and photography.
