2011 I Am a Man…
This spring, YI Artists met artist Glenn Ligon, who led YI teens through his exhibition at the Whitney. After talking to Ligon about his work, YI Artists worked with artist-in-residence, Wardell Milan to create works inspired by one of Ligon’s paintings, Untitled (I am a Man), 1980. Using stencils, stickers, paint, and other materials, YI Artists reimagined Ligon’s seminal painting in a variety of ways.
