Drawing on artist-in-residence Lize Mogel’s work, which includes the incorporation of maps and local environments, YI Writers used road, subway, and bike maps in collages that reimagined New York City. Creating these new maps, YI Writers chose to emphasize different characteristics of New York life—its isolation because of its surrounding waters, the differences between the City’s subways and waterways, and ways to advertise what makes this city so great.
