Spring 2011 Projects

AMERICA: REMIXED

Inspired by the work of artists including Jasper Johns, David Wojnarowicz, and Barbara Kruger, YI Artists explored iconography and political messages in art, incorporating different materials and techniques to alter images of the American flag and the world map. Artwork by Sarah

I Am a Man…

Three Defenses

What are three things you never leave the house without? How are they weapons of defense? Artist-in-residence Wardell Milan asked YI Artists to think about these questions and choose three objects that make them feel strong, confident, and comfortable when facing the world. The Skinny

Fall 2010 Projects

Photography En Route

Reconstructing New York City

Drawing on artist-in-residence Lize Mogel’s work, which includes the incorporation of maps and local environments, YI Writers used road, subway, and bike maps in collages that reimagine New York City. Artwork by Orly, Miranda, and Vanesa

De-Tour for the Non-Tourist
